Welcome to Helsinki, Finland, on 11th and 12th October 2014 to attend the fourth ISSE symposium. The theme of symposium is Inquiry-Based Learning in Science Education through ICT Experiments. The symposium is jointly organized by the LUMA Centre Finland and the project COMBLAB: The acquisition of science competencies using ICT real time experiments.
In addition to learning scientific concepts, students also need to obtain other competencies in science. These competencies include skills to do inquiry. We wish to present new teaching materials for biology, chemistry and physics education at junior and senior high school level. The material is research-based and it uses real-time data collection equipment as a tool to support students inquiry skills.
We welcome science teachers from junior to senior high school level, prospective teachers, teacher educators and researchers in science education to attend this symposium and share their ideas. The symposium is based on plenary lectures, hands-on workshops, and poster and discussion sessions.
Poster presentations are invited from science teachers interested in testing the COMBLAB activities at school before the symposium.
Attending the symposium is free of charge for European citizens. For non-European citizens, the symposium fee is 1500 EUR.
