Become a STEM teacher
In Finland, STEM subject teachers almost always hold a university degree. In grades 1–6 of basic education, STEM subjects are usually taught by class teachers who have a Master’s degree in Education. In grades 7–9 and at the upper secondary level, the teachers are typically subject teachers with a Master’s degree. Many teacher students also choose to qualify as both class and subject teachers, earning a double qualification. In universities of applied sciences and especially in universities, teachers usually hold a doctoral degree.
