The LUMA/STEAM Certificate has been developed and implemented in collaboration with Technology Industries of Finland, the cities of Tampere, Oulu, and Turku, and the University of Oulu. It serves as a tool for Finnish comprehensive schools to self-assess and develop their mathematics, science, and technology education. LUMA Centre Finland manages the certification process for schools.
The certificate provides schools with an opportunity to systematically review their operational culture and develop it to the desired level. The areas assessed by the certificate (pedagogy, competence, learning environments, networks, and leadership) are based on the Finnish National Core Curriculum for Basic Education (2014). This is why the certification process is available only to schools in Finland or to Finnish schools abroad that follow the Finnish National Core Curriculum for Basic Education.
